World Albinism Alliance sets Cape Town as host of its 2027 Global Conference

The triennial global conference of people with albinism will return to the African continent for the first time since 2019, bringing together delegates from more than 60 countries.

The World Albinism Alliance has confirmed Cape Town, South Africa as the host city of its 2027 Global Conference, with delegates expected from more than 60 countries.

It will be the first time the conference returns to the African continent since the 2019 Nairobi edition, which organisers describe as a turning point in building connections across national albinism organisations.

The 2027 programme is expected to focus on four thematic tracks: health and skin cancer, inclusive education and livelihoods, protection and justice, and community leadership. A parallel youth track will be co-designed with organisations of young people with albinism.

Registration is expected to open in late 2026. Accessibility and scholarship funds will support delegates from low-income settings.
