A nationwide survey by Associação Brasil Albinismo finds that access to sunscreen, low-vision services, and school accommodations remains deeply uneven across regions.
A nationwide survey released by Associação Brasil Albinismo documents deep regional inequalities in access to basic services for people with albinism in Brazil.
Across more than 1,800 respondents: 64% reported difficulty accessing sufficient sunscreen through public health services, 47% said they had never had a formal low-vision evaluation, and school accommodations were more common in southern states and less common in the North and Northeast.
The association is using the findings to argue for a national plan on albinism that links health, education, and social protection — rather than a patchwork of state-level initiatives.
